Oh, man. I’m such a proud Texan. The legal system here sucks ass. And there’s literally almost nothing anyone can do about it, because legislatures meet only for a very short time, once every two years. It’s bullshit.

March Against Monsanto yesterday was a success, bummed my friend was arrested though. The police refused to give badge numbers and said multiple times we were not allowed to film (wrong), and that she was being taken to Richmond City lockup (also wrong). They assaulted multiple peaceful protesters and were filmed doing so by me and a few others. Here is Summer’s account of her arrest:
So today I was arrested in a peaceful protest, one of the cops who arrested me began shoving me with his bicycle when I told him to stop assaulting me with his bike and to give me his badge number which he refused, I was then violently cuffed by two large cops one who injured my shoulder and drug off my feet through the street.
While being filmed and with legal observers demanding badge numbers of the roughly 8 maybe more cops who were surrounding me while I was remaining peaceful.
I was put in a car and driven behind buildings away from observers who they told I was being taken to jail.
Any time anyone came to film or be witnesses they were told they would be arrested as well.
The cops broke more laws arresting me than I broke while being arrested.
I was given a summons for unlawful assembly.
$124 was raised for legal fees and a lawyer has been found who represent her for free. The court date is June 19th, 9:30 AM at the John Marshall building, a group will be coming to show solidarity with Summer.

A 52ft-high (16m) rubber duck, which has attracted crowds of admirers in various locations around the world, lies deflating in Hong Kong’s Victoria Harbour. The giant bird, created by Dutch artist Florentijn Hofman, was found lying on its side on Tuesday night and was completely flat by Wednesday.
